Become a Frenchie Guardian
At Great Lake Frenchies Wisconsin, we prioritize the health, structure, and bloodlines for the French Bulldog breed. We put very thoughtful and intentional planning into each breeding we pair our females with so we can do our part to better the breed. We make sure to in-depth health test all of our dogs and if we choose to use an outside stud, we make sure he has great health to match with our females health.
We love each of our dogs and puppies and wish we could keep them all. However we always make sure to do what’s in each dogs best interest. And this is where our Guardian Program comes into play. We know each dog deserves to receive one on one love and attention. We seek out the perfect families to care for our dogs and to provide them with unconditional love and care that we can not provide for them because of our comfortable amount of dogs in our home and our busy lives. The Great Lake Frenchies Guardian Home Program is a unique opportunity for our beloved Frenchies to experience the best of both worlds—being cherished pets while also helping continue our exceptional breeding program to help better the French Bulldog breed.
Why Join the Guardian Home Program?
The Great Lake Frenchies Guardian Home Program offers families who adore French Bulldogs to get a top tier French Bulldog to add to their family. They are your pet and we keep the breeding rights of the dog. Think of this as you doing your part to help better the breed with us! We know it’s a sacrifice being part of this program, so because of that we do offer a considerable discount to the families in this program. We expect to stay in close communication with our guardian homes. We are so thankful to them and aim to create strong, lasting partnerships and friendships with our guardian homes, ensuring a rewarding experience for everyone involved. If you think you would be a good fit to join this program, please fill out an application below. We look forward to having you join our Great Lake Frenchies Guardian Home family!

How the Program Works
Puppies will join their Guardian families at 8 weeks old. Most families will care for a female Frenchie, although occasionally a male may require placement. When a female dog is old enough and ready for breeding, they will return to us for the necessary process before going back to her Guardian home. About 30 days after breeding, we will confirm pregnancy, and approximately one week before delivery, the female will return to our care to ensure a safe and smooth birthing process. In most cases, females will have up to three litters if they remain healthy enough to carry that many litters. After their final litter, they are spayed and retire to live the rest of their lives with their loving guardian families. For males they will work from 8 months old to 7 or 8 years old. We will stop over any time someone wants to use him. On rare occasions, an in-person breeding may need to take place so we will borrow him for a bit.
To ensure the happiness and well-being of our Frenchies, Guardian families must meet specific criteria. Ideal Guardian homes are located within a two-hour drive of our home in Wisconsin and must be able to transport the dog for appointments during breeding times. Homes should provide a calm, clean, and stress-free environment, and while having a fenced yard is preferred, it is not a strict requirement. Although homes without other dogs are ideal, exceptions can be made; however, no intact male or female dogs are allowed. Families must also have a solid understanding of the unique needs of French Bulldogs, as they require special care. Air conditioning is essential for maintaining their comfort and safety. Most importantly, Guardian families must be ready to provide unconditional love, affection, and daily care for their Frenchie.
